Adrian George is a contemporary British artist born in 1944. He was educated at Harrow Art School and The Royal College of Art.
Working between studios in London and Paris, he has been exhibited worldwide since 1970 and his work is held in the collections of H.M. the Queen, The Vatican, The National Portrait Gallery, The V&A Gallery, The Royal College of Art and private collections around the world.
Many of the 20th Century’s leading cultural figures—Peter Sellers, Germaine Greer, Lord Boothby, Mary Quant, Sir William Golding, Sir Arthur C Clarke and more—have sat to be portrayed in his distinctive classical style.
Adrian George currently lives and works in Kensington, London.
Celia Birtwell was one half of one of the most famous partnerships of the sixties along with Ossie Clark, their designs dressed everyone who was anyone. In the end she left him for the artist Adrian George who she was with for six years.
